Ever since then, whenever the fashion world has swooned over cowls, I have sneered, as I truly have not liked them, not one little floppy, frumpy bit.
But then: what of Pippa Middleton's Sarah Burton-designed dress with a deep, prominent cowl neck?

ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about cowls but this works. It is discreet decollatage. I think it's the loveliest bridesmaid's dress ever.
ReplyDeleteIMHO, both of those dresses are going to be game changers for bridal for the next several years. I am fairly sure that Friday morning, the phones at thousands of bridal salons in North America were ringing off the hook with young ladies saying, "do you have a dress like Kate's?" and "I want Pippa's dress!!" There is a better chance that some shops will have something like Pippas; I doubt highly if anyone stocked any bridal gowns that looked like Kate's - high neck? Long lace sleeves? Perhaps this will put the stake in the heart of strapless bridal gowns (though I think there will be a lot of girls who will cling on, as the meme out there is that the best dress for generously endowed brides is strapless - where that came from, I don't know, but I know it's almost a 'alligators in the sewers in New York City' piece of accepted mythology.
