But I’m not sure whether this gorgeous woman can convince me to wear a snood.
Take a look at the Prada photographs for fall 2008 in any good magazine: Linda’s hair is wrapped in a snood in each image. From the Renaissance to the 1800s, snoods were practical; they kept a woman’s hair neat, tidy, and off her face, with very little effort.
Think Marmee from Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. Or for a more glamorous visual, how about Juliet Capulet?
To me, the snood is simply too costume-y, too nostalgic to wear on the street. I’d feel old, antique, really, and I’d rather leave that vibe to my furniture.
So if you hear a “Knock! Knock!”
followed by “Snood’s there?”
Don’t open the door.
I love Linda and will do anything she tells me to. ANYTHING! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI adore Linda...long may she reign as Queen of the supermodels!
ReplyDeleteAs for snoods, I really kind of dig them. Not sure if I could pull one off but I do admire those who can.
I remember first seeing Linda in a J Crew catalog years and years ago. Even then she was a standout. Her comment several years ago about not getting out of bed for less than $10,000 was a real turnoff however, and I've never felt the same about her since.
ReplyDeleteThat snood is kind of interesting, but I would never wear it - it takes a certain attitude to pull it off. How unusual that Prada would feature them so prominently.
I think I may have a little snood love, I'd get one laced with pearls and pretend to be Ms Evangilista (I think it helps to have a hearty fantasy life if you are going to wear a snood).
ReplyDeleteLinda is my favorite model ever. She always looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteThe snood isn't for me, but I know one blogger who does it well: Super Kawaii Mama.
I'd happily wear a snood, it's just too camp to pass up!
