The new Madonna ads for Louis Vuitton are déjà vu, to my eye.
I see a generic American Frenchified bistro, a la Pastis or Balthazar, back in the day, and a weary circus performer who’s popped in for some absinthe, or just to stretch her legs, before hopping back on the trapeze.
I liked LV’s last campaign for its unexpected models—Gorby, Keef, et al. But this series of ads just seems tired (though I quite like the shoes and bags throughout).
interesting choice. i don't think madonna will inspire me to buy a bag from lv...
ReplyDeleteI would never buy a logo bag no matter who sells it. If they took the LV off I might consider it.
ReplyDeletemadonna and young friend britney are trying too hard these days, it really makes me wonder why. what is it they still need since their fortune and fame are legendary.
ReplyDeleteActually, Madonna is old and tired to me. Keef and Gorbachev are the kind of icons who can get away with a Vuitton bag, though I doubt they do have them.
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a logo girl, but I do like the quality of LV bags and shoes. If they'd make logo-free bags, I might buy. But that would defeat the purpose, wouldn't it?
ReplyDeleteMadonna looks great at 50.
I second La Belette's comment. My love for Madonna would never inspire me to buy a logo-encrusted bag. Nothing really would.
ReplyDeleteDon't dig LV, don't dig label bags, don't dig Madonna. But... I think she looks great in that photo. It wouldn't put me off if I were in the market for one of those bags.
ReplyDeleteMadonna is becoming artificial and creepy looking and I dislike LV and all logo bags, clothes, etc. And LV is ugly.
ReplyDeleteI like the ad--I like that it is set in the bistro, the bag, love the orange feathery item, and the colors in general. Madonna is kind of secondary to me in it. I would buy a bag (not b/c of any celeb), I just don't want to pay the price. :) I like those checkered ones they make w/the white & gray, too or the red lacquer-y looking ones. I don't care typically for logo emblazoned items, but LV has been around so long, it just seems classic. However, when Coach adopted those big "C's," I was really turned off.
