We Interrupt this Regularly Scheduled Posting

for a quick public service query:

Can anyone advise me on how to superimpose letters (words) over images that I've saved to my computer? Is there some software that’s downloadable or is there another, easy trick?

This Luddite has some ideas for upcoming posts, but doesn’t know how to execute them!

  2. I've been meaning to post a very similar question -- I see other blogs where mousing over a photograph reveals an informative or amusing caption, and I'd love to be able to do the same. I'll be checking back to see what you find out.

  3. Materfamilias,

The incomparably talented enc tells me that one needs Photoshop. Of course I don't have this at home, so I'll need to do a little purchasing soon . . .

  4. Miss C, ask your place of employ. Most universities offer software at a discount to students, faculty, and staff. Photoshop is well worth having, but quite an investment ... you might be able to get it half price. (Maybe you knew that already ...)

If you want to do it yourself go to this site.

Basic online tool that enables you to add text and output the result in various formats. Oh It's free to sign up and use. I tested it for you as well.

That's an easy option if you don't want to install any software in your PC.

  7. I say photoshop is an overkill. There are other simpler/easier to use applications out there.

  8. By the way you only need Photoshop CS (the big expensive package) in a professional enviroment.
If you do not need elaborate colour management, Photoshop Elements (with organization, slideshow and webalbum), Paint Shop Pro or Gimp have all you need for creative photo manipulation without breaking your bank account.
