The other day when I was reading the NYT styles section, I was struck by the architecturally appealing shoes worn, to the right, by set designer, etc., Anne Koch.
She said she bought them from an online boutique, Grey Area, so off I clicked, to learn that the shoes (Zaha Hadid for Melissa) were made of rubber, not leathah.
On one hand, this knowledge was good, because my interest in the shoes instantly diminished. But on the other hand, was I too quick to reject them?

I liked them a lot and seriously entertained the idea of buying them, but they do require a lot of confidence.
I do think you were too quick to reject them. I love Melissa shoes (especially the Vivienne Westwood ones). Wearing rubber shoes sounds strange but they are surprisingly comfortable and they smell like bubblegum.
I don't know. Sweaty feet and blisters is my gut reaction, after noting how fabulous they are. They remind me a lot of a pair of Chie Mihara booties I did not buy a few years ago, but these are more delicate.
I love the whole look that Anne Koch has got going on, with the possible exception of the horsey fascinator.
I just downloaded Rubber Soul from iTunes...which made me think of the movie Men in Black and Tommy Lee Jones saying he'll have to buy the White Album again.
