The so-called Polar Vortex and its accompanying snow dunes remind me of winters on PEI when my father would wake up who-knows-how-early to shovel our driveway entirely by hand.
Here is his daughter, wee Miss Cavendish, at 21 months, who's been tossed up into a carefully piled bank.
She (I) grew up reading this book. Did any gentle readers?

Oh, how adorable! And that's snow for you. Do you not find it a bit crazy how everyone's freaking out over the latest freeze? I seem to remember it was like this every winter when I was a child.
I grew up with a ton of snow every winter, as you did! This latest cold snap reminded me of what seemed to be a daily occurrence when I was a child too. . .
Your father shoveled that by hand? Was his name Paul Bunyan? I've been bitching & moaning about digging my car out and now I feel like a sissy.
I grew up in Edmonton. Makes me chuckle whenever Toronto freaks out over a few inches...
I read that book many, many times, and I think Nola has her mom's old copy on her bookshelves. . .
