Easy pun, I know, but I wanted to post this shot of Fashion’s Night Out at Bergdorf Goodman to make a stylish etiquette point: I’d never drink out of a glass that was served to me in this “overhand” grip.
Please, lovely baristas, hold the stem.
(I did win the dining room award at boarding school, you know . . .)
(And maybe the fussy award too.)

That is so true - I would have freaked if someone had handed me the glass this way, I couldn't have drunk from it - yuk!!
I've been rolling my eyes at Admin asking us to spend two minutes talking about H1N1 and hand-washing, thinking that surely I don't need to teach university students how to wash their hands. But obviously common sense and hygiene have parted ways -- or they're still together, but far away from your average . . . what? young person, person, -- I hesitate to generalize but who is it that's missing these basics?
We saw Ashley in Whole Foods NYC and she was nose raking the tangerines, must be across the board lack of etiquette
Good point!
What must they be thinking? I see this happen all the time and it grosses me out.
I see this a lot, and it still amazes me, even though it shouldn't considering everything else I see going on.
Celebrities don't necessarily have good manners. That is super gross! Even my 9 year old knows better than to do something like that. I'd blame the parents, but in this case, they're old enough to know better.
But famous people aren't mere humans like the rest of us... as heavenly beings they could stick their fingers into the drink and it would only serve to make it taste better. (Kidding. This is really disgusting and inexcusable.)
