I love the portrait of Ontario in the winter (the cross-country skiing! the lake cottage! the snow!) but it is, of course, Julie Christie and Gordon Pinsent who keep me returning to the screen.
In an era that endlessly celebrates youth, it's invigorating to see Julie Christie outshine everyone else. She may be my quintessential "It girl," as her "it-ness" both transcends and celebrates age.
UPDATED to add: Here's where I wrote about Julie Christie (and this film) a couple of winters ago. It seems that I write seasonally too . . .

Isn't she gorgeous in that film? Are you showing it to your class, btw? And one more question: could you get more Canadian than Gordon Pinsent?
I've just seen that film for the first time and Julie Christie is just marvelous.
I really need to see that movie.
She is me it girl - I went to see don't look now in an open air screening as I'd never seen it other than on TV. JC is the best!
Julie Christie is the best actress ever.Your tribute is long overdue and her lifetime body of work has been stellar.
You have to see her interview in the film,"Tonight,Lets all make love in London" to see the true essence of the 60`s.
Julie should have won the Academy Award for her amazing acting in Sara Polly`s brilliant movie.
I haven't seen the film but she looks radiant in this photo.
Oh! I just love her!
