Last Dance; or, School of Shoes

Just popping in to say how much I adore this NYT article on shoe-making.

Actually, shoe school is a one-woman operation. But Mr. Day-Lewis would be a welcome addition to the faculty!

Imagine the thrill of making your own perfect shoe...I might enroll! Who needs clothes when you can make your own shoes?

Seems like a very expensive hobby, though..

My great-grandfather was an Italian cobbler. I've determined this to be the provenance of my predilection for shoes.
