Growing up in Canada, I found that attractive winter jackets were pretty much nonexistent, so it’s always a pleasure when I see something that’s not only warm but cool!
Moncler has caught my eye for a few seasons now. Above and below are images from its Gamme Rouge ad campaign, photographed by Steven Meisel. (The jacket below, with its strategic rosettes, reminds me of the iconic "hands" jacket whose designer I cannot recall. Was it Margiela, Watanabe, or possibly Miyake? Do please help, gentle readers!)
But visit Moncler’s website and you’ll find equally appealing photos of these luxe and witty (but never cute!) jackets. I’d go to an outdoor opera in these:

I've always drooled over Moncler and their stuff keeps getting better and better!
I love these designs but I would have to be 6 feet tall and 100 pounds not to look like the micheline man in these.
THIS IS ART , THIS IS STUNNING!

I love this campaign! When I first saw it, I could not believe my eyes - it's one of the few times I've actually seen a stylish down jacket. And it's so much better than the other ad with the doggies...
Every winter was a fight to get my brother and I dressed in parkas and snowpants so consequently as an adult I am now adverse to anything even slightly 'puffed' but I might give something like this a go.
God damn those Canadian winters.
As another Canadian expat who lived both in Manitoba and Saskatchewan (and almost everywhere else, too) I'd love one of these coats. There's nothing worse than putting an ugly parka over a beautiful evening dress.
My nephew lives in Whistler and is hoping to get married in January 2011. His fiance loves the idea too (mountain top ceremony) and one of these coats would be great.
Gorgeous!
Christine
I love the idea of wearing one of these as an outdoor-wedding jacket!
I love Moncler - I just need the bank balance!
mines Tuesday so v close.
Comme des Garcons is responsible for the hands jacket (fall 07).
Those jackets are wonderful. I bet they cost a pretty penny too.
I just stumbled across this brand in the last couple of weeks, and they're the best at interpreting shapes so far, in my book. It's really difficult to make puffer look anything but puffy, but they do it well.
Gorgeous jackets..for my sister, who is 6' tall and weighs about 125 pounds. Me, at 5'2" and ahem, more than 125? I'm in the throes of making myself a structured, lined(and interlined) wool coat. It's going to weigh a ton..and that's exactly what I want.
