The Duchess in Ottawa: Maple Leaf Rad

It's not easy to look chic draped in a flag, but I love how the Duchess of Cambridge wears our Maple Leaf colours on Canada Day.

Kate's wearing her ivory Reiss engagement portrait frock; her fan clutch is by Anya Hindmarch.

And her fascinator?

This topper is no "Maple Leaf Rag" . . .

This look is clearly "Maple Leaf Rad":

Whoever is advising her on her clothing choices is batting around .750. Great hat!!!

Let's see. Her Grandmama in law did it with a long ball gown with maple leaf embroidery - Dutchess Kate did it with a very very clever hat. Bravo for the efficiency of millinery! And I WILL snitch that idea.

The hat is hilarious. I don't know that it's fashionable, but it sure is patriotic.

Nope. Sorry to be a nay-sayer, or perhaps I don't just get fascinators, but I think the hat is ridiculous. A plain red bibi and little silver maple leaf pin would be far more chic, and still in Canadian flag colours.

Great dress.
